Who, what, pixel?

Hi there!

So you're wondering what PixelBeard is all about?

Simply put PixelBeard is an independent games studio.

Generally our games are FREE to play online (learn more below) and require Adobe Flash Player (again you can learn more below).

Who is/are PixelBeard?

PixelBeard is helmed by Will Faulds/PixelBeard (Pixel artist & designer) but more often than not the games are collaborative projects.

Regular contributors include: Charlotte Traynor/Chestnuts & Squirrles (The drawing illustrator) and Chris Duffy/Hodgepodge Soup (The music maestro).

We're on the lookout for an Actionscript 2/3 developer... Currently I (Will) do the actionscripting but it would be great to be able to spend more time on the artwork and GUI. I'm no programmer and I've not idea how to code/build in AS 3. I'm just building on my experience with developing full flash sites and Cavendish.

So if you'd like to join the team get in touch!

How can you afford to make everything free?

PixelBeard uses a fairly standard online advertising model to generate some revenue through its games. This means in general we generate a VERY small amount every time a game is played or the page the game is on is loaded.

Depending on the game we may also secure a sponsorship/licensing deal. These are available to any developer and help cover production costs before a game is launched.

If you'd like more detailed information just ask! You can also read up about these and other online monetising options available at FlashGameSponsorship.com

Can I help?

Yes!

Play the games, subscribe to this blog, follow our twitter, become a fan on facebook, leave feedback (here or on Kongregate ).

We REALLY appreciate anyone taking the time to leave feedback. Its what helps keep us motivated and you're playing the games so why not help make them better?

Also, you can donate through paypal... Even if you don’t have a paypal account. Just click on the Donate button to the right and choose your amount - don't forget to add a message!

How do you make games?

This is quite a tough question to answer... I use Adobe Flash to compile the games and write their code in Actionscript 2. Here are some great sites for tips, tutorials and help using Actionscript; Actionscript.org, Kirupa.com, GoToAndPlay.it, and Tony.pri.ee.

With each game we release I've decided to release small but useful actionscript code snippets. So if you're interested in learning more about game creation stay tuned.
